Congratulations! You are getting ready to become one of nearly 19,000 University of Guam alumni who are making a difference in Guam, the Micronesian region, and all over the world. 

This webpage will be a source of important information as you finalize your degree requirements and get ready for commencement.

Graduation Checklist

  1. Apply and submit your completed form at the Admissions & Records Office:
    Undergraduate: Application for Degree
    Graduate: Application for Degree
    How to pay online. Click HERE.

  2. Clear any remaining balances at the Bursar’s Office and RFK Library.

  3. Use the Program Evaluation tool on Self Service or see the Records Office to:

    1. Confirm that grade changes for incompletes (I) have been posted your transcripts.

    2. Confirm that transfer credits have been approved and posted.

    3. Confirm that course substitutions have been approved and posted.

    4. Confirm that ALL grades and credits have been posted.

  4. Complete the Senior Core Competency Assessments (undergraduates only)

  5. Submit the degree application form and payment receipt to: admitme@triton.uog.edu. If you are a graduate student send it to graduatestudies@triton.uog.edu.

The Senior Core Competency Assessments are an administrative requirement for undergraduate graduation. The tests are conducted in five parts, which will measure critical thinking skills, quantitative analysis skills, information literacy skills, written communication skills, and oral communication skills.

The deadline to apply for graduation is in late September or late February. Once you've applied and receive an email from the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE), it is best to take the assessments as early as you can during the semester so you don’t have to worry about it later. The deadline to complete assessments can be found in the “Important Dates” in the General Tab.

We recommend setting aside at least an hour per assessment. It is encouraged that each test be taken in different sittings to avoid test fatigue.

Shortly after applying for graduation, you will receive an email in your Triton account with more details from OIE. You will also be enrolled in the Moodle Course: “Graduating Seniors Core Competency Assessments.”

Students don't need to study beforehand for these assessments. Students are encouraged to give their best effort and attention for each assessment.

A hold will be placed on your account, which will result in the holding of your diploma and transcripts upon graduation.

Frequently Asked Questions

When you apply for graduation, an evaluation of your courses, credits, and GPA will be done by the Records Office (for master's students, please contact the Graduate Studies Office) to determine if you have met the degree requirements. The evaluation is based on the degree requirements from your Catalog-in-Force. You will be contacted to pick up a printout of the evaluation. 

The main components are:

  • General Education Credit Requirements (55 credits)

  • Major course, credit, and grade requirements

  • Overall completion of at least 124 credits, of which 32 credits must be earned from UOG courses

  • Overall upper division (300/400 level) course completion of at least 40 credits

  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 2.00 (Some majors require higher GPAs. Consult your Catalog for details.)

Only after all grades have been received and posted, will the registrar certify your graduation completion and honors. Once grades are posted, there will be a final evaluation of graduation completion. The Triton Store will receive the honors listing of bachelor’s degree students on commencement day. They will be open that day for students to purchase their honor sashes. Please see the Catalog for eligibility requirements. 

  • Students with Bursar's Office or Library obligations may not be allowed to participate in the commencement ceremony and will receive their diplomas and transcripts when accounts are cleared. Please proceed to the Bursar's Office (Administration Building) and the Library to check the status of your account and make payment if necessary. 

  • Non-payment will result in referral to the University’s external collection agency and will be reported to the credit bureau. Students will be referred 30 days after the date of commencement. 

  • Contact the Bursar's Office at bursar@triton.uog.edu.

You will receive an email notification from the Triton Store to pick up your cap and gown. You may contact (671) 735-2931/34 for more information.

  • For Fanuchånan 2026 Commencement: Graduation regalia such as caps, gowns, and tassels will be ready for pick up at the Triton Store for students who ordered them in advance.  Pick up date to be announced.
  • Triton Store Hours: 
    • Monday: 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  
    • Tuesday - Thursday: 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  
    • Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.  

Recommended attire:

  • Men – white or light colored shirt with a conservative tie (dark blue, maroon, gray, or black) and dark (preferably black) trousers with black socks and shoes. Please, no white socks, tennis shoes, zorries, or sandals. 

  • Women – dark dress (preferably black) worn under the gown with black shoes. Please, no white stockings, tennis shoes, or zorries. Hairstyle should accommodate the cap to be worn level on top of the head.

Each graduate is allowed (TBA) guests (including children). Tickets will be ready for pickup on [date to be announced], from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the EMSS Dean's Office, SOE Bldg. Room 102B.

Latin honors are only for undergraduate students. Honor stoles are only available for pick up on commencement day, December 20, 2026, at the Triton Store.

For Fanuchånan 2026 Commencement, the Triton Store will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for students to pick up their honor stoles.
