Seeking to Publish Work by Young Creatives

UOG Press is collecting creative works from youth living in Guåhan for a special publication, including:

• Poems
• Short Stories
• Creative Essays
• Photographs
• Art
• Music

The publication will capture the vision and voices of children, teenagers, and young adults from throughout the island. It will serve as a platform for young people to share the stories and visions that matter most to them. Pieces may express the unique experiences of island life and may address a wide range of themes including (but not limited to) love, loss, hope, loneliness, family, friendship, relationships, struggle, triumph, identity, growth, and culture.

Guidelines:

• Only original works can be submitted.
• Writers and artists must be between the ages of 5-and-18 years old.
• Writers can submit between 1-to-10 pages of original poetry, fiction, or prose, or music.
• Photographers and artists can submit 1-to-5 photographs or art pieces.
• All submissions must include a completed and signed cover sheet/publishing agreement.

Submissions must be emailed to uogpress@triton.uog.edu by no later than Friday, September 1, 2023. Submissions may also be hand delivered to the UOG Press office on the second floor of the Micronesian Area Research Center/Computer Center at the University of Guam.
