Undergraduate Research Journal of Micronesia
The Undergraduate Research Journal of Micronesia (URJM) is an academic journal that publishes original research and studies from undergraduate students throughout the region. This journal provides a deeper understanding of the unique issues surrounding Micronesia and provides an opportunity for students to share their academic findings with their community.
Undergraduate Research Journal of Micronesia Vol. I
2017
The first volume of the URJM features five articles written by current undergraduate students and alumni of UOG. Each article relates to a local-regional topic or issue.
Volume 1 of the Undergraduate Research Journal of Micronesia features the following articles:

The second volume of the URJM features five papers written by students from UOG's Psychology Program.
Volume II of the Undergraduate Research Journal of Micronesia features the following articles:

Submission Guidelines
The Undergraduate Research Journal of Micronesia (UOG Edition) seeks to highlight the research of University of Guam undergraduate students. The
journal welcomes manuscripts from each respective UOG academic program/discipline
for its Spring 2024 issue. The Undergraduate Research Journal of Micronesia (UOG Edition) will allow local and regional scholars and students to learn from and appreciate
the research and interests of undergraduate students and how their academic work contributes
to our community and region.
- Writing Format: APA, MLA, or Chicago (students should follow the format and literary conventions
required in their respective programs and disciplines)
- Type of Data: Qualitative, Quantitative, or Mixed Method
- Topics/Themes: Topics/themes addressed should be local/regional-focused
- Page Requirements: 10 pages minimum (8,000 words), 25 pages maximum (20,000 words), including title page,
abstract, tables/figures, and references
- Mentor: Students must identify a mentor when they submit their manuscript; this mentor must
be a University of Guam professor who assisted with their research and/or writing
process.
- Cover Sheet: Should include the author’s name, address, phone number, email address, title of
the work, program, and the following statement (author’s consent to publish): “I,
(write your name) of (write your address) hereby assign first serial rights, online
archival rights, and journal rights in the work entitled "Title of Work" to the University
of Guam Press. I warrant that I am the sole author/artist of the work, and that the
work does not infringe the copyrights, trademarks, or other rights of another person.”
- Edits and Revisions: If your paper is accepted, you will be a part of a revision and editing conversation
with at least one URJ editor.
- Other Formatting Guidelines: All manuscripts should be well-written (manuscripts with major grammatical and spelling
errors may not be considered).
Manuscripts must reflect original work done by the named author(s); all authors must be named.
All identification of the authors must be removed from the manuscript (and instead placed on the cover sheet).
Manuscripts should be submitted in .doc, .docx, or .pdf format. If a PDF is submitted, an editable version should be ready for presentation upon request.

Call for Papers
The Undergraduate Research Journal of Micronesia (UOG Edition) seeks to highlight the research of University of Guam undergraduate students. The journal welcomes manuscripts from each respective UOG academic program/discipline for its Spring 2024 issue. The Undergraduate Research Journal of Micronesia (UOG Edition) will allow local and regional scholars and students to learn from and appreciate the research and interests of undergraduate students and how their academic work contributes to our community and region.
- Who: University of Guam undergraduate students/recent graduates who are enrolled in or have completed a capstone course in their area of study or a research/thesis course (e.g., a 300- or 400-level writing and research-intensive course) for which they produced a research or review paper in the Spring/Summer/Fall of 2022 or Spring 2023.
- What: Original research (to include research papers and review papers focused on Guam-and/or-Micronesia-specific issues and topics)
- When: Submissions must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2023
