About CNAS
The College of Natural & Applied Sciences was created in 2003 by combining the former College of Agriculture & Life Sciences with the mathematical sciences, natural sciences, and pre-professional programs from the former College of Arts & Sciences and the military science program from the former College of Business & Public Administration.
The College of Natural & Applied Sciences administers courses in military science and agriculture as part of the federal land-grant mandate.
Structure
The mission of a land-grant institution is threefold:

- Teaching
Programs include:
- Western Pacific Tropical Research Center (WPTRC)
- Cooperative Extension & Outreach (CE&O)
- Resident Instruction (RI)
All courses offered for university credit are part of the Resident Instruction mission and are administered through the College of Natural and Applied Sciences. Non-credit university courses are part of the extension mission and administered through the Cooperative Extension & Outreach. Faculty from WPTRC and CE&O serve as CNAS teaching faculty for the Agriculture and Consumer & Family Sciences programs.

University of Guam (UOG) student researchers made a strong showing at the 2024 Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) National Diversity in STEM (NDiSTEM) Conference, held in Phoenix, Arizona; bringing together thousands of scientists, engineers, and students from across the nation.
Students can now take wildlife biology courses from UF or do a semester abroad at partner universities.
The University of Guam is now accepting applications for its paid Student Research Experience (SRE) program for undergraduate students for the 2025 term. This year-long research internship offers hands-on lab experience, faculty mentoring, and a monthly stipend of $500. Interested students can apply by October 31, 2024, to gain valuable experience in STEM fields under the guidance of distinguished mentors.
University of Guam students, Reina Evangelista and Gian Paras, showcased their groundbreaking cancer research at the AACR Conference 2024. Their work focuses on breast cancer risk factors and mammography screening adherence in Guam, contributing to the Pacific Island Partnership for Cancer Health Equity (PIPCHE).
