Chemistry Titration Competition
1. Candidates must have practiced a titration experiment like the one used in the competition.
2. Candidates must wear school uniform with closed shoes.
3. Candidates must bring a scientific calculator and pen/pencil.
4. All candidates must complete all the necessary forms: entry, indemnity, and media release.
5. Candidates should be aware of the basic safety procedure in the laboratory.
6. Substitute candidates will be allowed if they fulfill the requirements 1-5.
7. Candidates within the same team are allowed to consult each other during the competition but no consultation between teams will be allowed.
8. No printed material such as laboratory experimental method, tables, calculations, etc. will be allowed in the laboratory or competition venue, other than those supplied by the Competition Supervisors.
9. No pre-programmed calculation on calculator or similar device will be allowed.
10. Candidates will be allowed for restroom breaks but with the consent of the Chief Supervisor.
11. Use of cell phones will not be permitted in the laboratory and during the competition.
12. Candidates must submit all their reports to the Supervisors before leaving the laboratory.
13. Candidates must exercise safety and courtesy during the competition. Candidates found to be discourteous or disruptive in behavior during the competition will be disqualified.
14. Candidates may ask the supervisors for clarification of laboratory methods.
15. No assistance on the calculation, experimental method, will be allowed from Teachers, Teaching Assistants, or Supervisors.
16. No candidate will be allowed to re-enter the laboratory after completing the experiment unless under the authority of the Chief Supervisor.
17. Candidates entering the competition for the second time or more will only be allowed provided that the candidate’s team-member (partner) has not had any previous competition.
18. The judges will finalize the awardees and their decision will be final.
19. Awards will be given for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd in the overall Team Score, Individual Score and the Laboratory Experimental Skill score.
20. Candidates are advised to wear safety (face) masks during the event but not mandatory.
