Yigo Research & Education Center

  • Est. 1986
  • 47 acres

The Yigo Research & Education Center is located on the northern part of Guam on the soil type that covers approximately 30 percent of the island. The porous limestone in the north of Guam quickly absorbs water, and the shallow, "cobbly clay" soil tends to lack a good nutrient balance. This makes the station ideal for research projects looking to make efficient and economical use of nutrients, such as the use of biochar and organic waste compost as soil amendments.

The Yigo station also includes the Triton Farm, an integrated demonstration farm used for research, instruction, and outreach.
