The Chemistry Program offers a Bachelors of Science degree with a major or minor in Chemistry. The program
also offers chemistry courses that for pre-Nursing and Agriculture majors.
The chemistry major program prepares students for professional careers in science such as scientific officers, laboratory analyst, teaching, and other chemistry related fields. A chemistry major will also prepare students for graduate study in chemistry.
The Chemistry Department has the following equipment that is used for teaching chemistry courses and research.
There are instruments that are available under mutual arrangement with relevant units within the University of Guam as listed.
The chemistry major and minor programs are designed to prepare students for:
The chemistry program also provides course offerings in chemistry required by major programs in agriculture, biology, engineering, nursing and other health-related sciences. Chemistry Majors must have a “C” or better in all courses required of the major. Courses in applied mathematics and computer science and as many upper division courses in chemistry and physics as the student’s schedule will permit are also highly recommended. It is very important for new and transfer students who elect chemistry as a major to contact the chemistry major program advisor for advisement immediately after declaring this major.
Students who wish to enroll in the Chemistry Program should follow the general regulations and procedures regarding admission to the University of Guam.
