In anticipation of the UOG Regional Center for Public Policy's upcoming minimum wage seminar on May 22 and in light of the recent bill to increase the minimum wage on Guam, KUAM spoke with UOG Professor of Economics Roseann Jones on the economic impact study she authored prior to the previous minimum wage increase. Jones will be the main speaker at the upcoming seminar.

On May 10, the Fifth Annual University of Guam Film Festival brought more than 150 film enthusiasts and student filmmakers from all over the island, including high school entrants — a first for the festival — to celebrate and promote the art of film production.

The University of Guam, as a partner of the Pacific Islands Climate Adaptation Science Center consortium, will be assisting NASA research scientists from May 8 to May 16 with a project to map Guam's priority coral reefs using a state-of-the-art sensing technology.

The University of Guam Women's Basketball Team held tryouts on May 14 at the UOG Calvo Field House with 13 players showing up to be put through drills and have their basketball skills tested.
