UOG Men's Soccer dominates FC Beercelona to advance in GFA Challenge Cup
The University of Guam Men's Soccer Team defeated FC Beercelona on May 10 by a score of 9-0 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Guam Football Association's Challenge Cup by the Bank of Guam at the GFA National Training Center.
The Tritons opened the scoring in the 16th minute of the match as Team Captain Dylan Naputi scored the opening goal. Ryoga Okada added the second goal shortly afterwards at the 19-minute mark to make it 2-0. Naputi then added his second goal of the night at the 36-minute mark to give UOG a 3-0 lead going into half-time.
Hezekiah Cruz scored the fourth UOG goal two minutes into the second half to open the flood gates for the Tritons as UOG added five more goals in the second half.
Okada led UOG with three goals, while Naputi and Cruz scored two goals each and James Yang and Jordan Rosario added a goal each.
UOG ran its record to 16-1-0 on the year, with a 16-match winning streak. The Tritons will face the winner of the Eurocar Masters and the Bank of Guam premier league match at 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, in the final eight of the tournament.
The Eurocar Masters and BOG Strykers will play Saturday, May 11, to advance to play the Tritons on Thursday night.
