Guam Women's College Volleyball League Starts Up On Thursday
The University of Guam Triton Athletics will serve as host to the Guam Women's College Volleyball League on Thursday night after the cancellations of matches on Monday.
Cancelled Monday matches will be moved to Thursday, September 20 at the UOG Calvo Field House and the new opening night will feature the following matches:
6:15pm - UOG Tritons Vs Pacific Islands University Tide
7:45pm - UOG Tridents Vs Guam Community College
In the opening match, the Tritons who have never tasted defeat in the league face the Tide who has not a won a match in the GWCVL, as the varsity Tritons are 16-0 in the two seasons of play with two GWCVL Championships while the Tide is 0-14 in their two seasons of play and two fourth place finishes.
The nightcap features the UOG Tridents (the Recreation program club team) against the team from GCC. The Tridents finished 2nd in GWCVL Season 1 but did not have a team in Season 2. The Guam Community College team has finished 3rd twice in the GWCVL but have played solid volleyball in both prior seasons.
The league will play a double round-robin regular season followed by a single elimination playoff. The Championship Match is set for Saturday, October 6 at 10:00am.
