Dr. ShinHwa Lee joined the University of Guam in January 2020. She previously worked at Eastern New Mexico University as an assistant professor, graduate coordinator, and program leader of the Counseling Program for five years. Lee is a Texas Licensed Professional Counselor and has clinical experience with children and parents under the Child Protective Services, victims of domestic violence, at-risk students, and in-and-out patients at a psychiatric hospital. Lee’s scholarly interests include multiculturalism, wellness, and early childhood mental health.
Associate Professor of Marine Invertebrate Genomics
Dr. Sarah Lemer joined the UOG Marine Laboratory in 2016 as a senior research faculty of genomics working for the EPSCoR project. In March 2020, she became an assistant professor of invertebrate genomics and teaches the Marine Invertebrate Biology graduate course. She and her students focus their research on coral’s genetic responses to heat stress.
She conducted two post-doctorates: one in French Polynesia at the French National Center for Scientific Research and the French Institute for the Sea, the second at Harvard University, Museum of Comparative Zoology - Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology.

Dr. Genevieve Leon Guerrero, PhD, brings over 20 years of experience in educational settings, ranging from K-20 classrooms to graduate program coordination. She enriches the Doctor of Education (EdD) program with her deep understanding of curriculum development and teaching. As a core faculty member, she specializes in integrating research with data-driven classroom interventions, focusing on improving educational practices through rigorous research and practical application in teacher preparatory programs.
Director, Facilities Management & Services
Glenn A. Leon Guerrero joined the University of Guam as director of facilities management and services in August 2020. He has headed several Government of Guam organizations, including the Election Commission, the Guam Economic Development Authority, the Port Authority of Guam, and most recently, the Department of Public Works.
Leon Guerrero has also worked in numerous capacities within the private sector, serving as the Guam manager for PRI Gas Express in 1985, as ExxonMobil’s retail manager in 2000, and as Shell’s vice president of operations in 2010.
He also serves as associate pastor at St. Paul’s Assembly of God Church.
