This year’s theme, "Tapestries of Resilience: Securing Our Island Communities," will explore how island communities tackle challenges like food security, climate change, cultural preservation, and economic inequality. Dr. Mary Therese Perez Hattori, Director of the Pacific Islands Development Program at the East-West Center, will discuss these topics in her presentation.

UOG DRONE CORPS FLIGHT DEMONSTRATIONS

Watch as the UOG Drone Corps conducts a drone flight demonstration. Learn about the rules of flying drones in Guam and about the different types of drones available. 


LIVESTOCK EXHIBITION: PIGS, DUCKS, & CHICKS

Come observe some live animals that are commonly raised as livestock in Guam, courtesy of the Guåhan Livestock Producers Cooperative, and learn important tips about providing them the best care in Guam's climate.

Take a stroll down our Cycad Walk, featuring a complete collection of the world's 10 genera of cycads and learn about the threats that are making them one of world's most endangered plant groups.

Come tour the CNAS Aquapark and learn why aquaponics systems -- both backyard and commercial -- are a smart solution for Guam's food security and environment. Then come over to the ALS Bldg. lab to check out our tilapia fish tanks

SOIL LAB TOURS

What's in your soil, and why does it matter? Find out in the UOG Soil Lab, where you can see soil-testing equipment in action testing for pH, chemical elements, organic matter percentage, electrical conductivity, and texture analysis.

POMOLOGY, PHYSIOLOGY, AND NEMATOLOGY LAB EXPERIENCE

Get an up-close look at live nematodes (microscopic worms) and their eggs in this first-time Nematology & Pomology Lab Experience at UOG Charter Day! Land Grant nematologist Dr. Richard Singh and his research interns will demonstrate how to extract nematodes from soil samples and how to stain them for viewing on a microscope slide. He will also share how fruit trees respond to nematodes and other stress factors.

Get a brief introduction to plant genetic analysis, plant biochemistry, and the lab technologies used, and test your knowledge with a KAHOOTS quiz and matching game! Also watch some every day phenomena take place at a microscopic level.

GUAM PLANT EXTINCTION PREVENTION PROGRAM (GPEPP) NURSERY TOUR

9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. 
Starting Point: ALS Building Entrance (at the building entrance stairs)

Take a walk-through tour of the Guam Plant Extinction Prevention Program Nursery under UOG's Land Grant! Learn from the research team about their efforts to prevent the extinction of various plant species by protecting wild populations, preserving their genes, and reintroducing plants to their natural habitat.

HIGH SCHOOL CHEMISTRY TITRATION COMPETITION

Come quietly observe on the sidelines of UOG's Chemistry Labs as high school student teams compete in a three-hour chemistry titration experiment. Awards will be presented for Best Individual, Best Team, and Best Laboratory Skill.

Take a tour of the School of Health's Learning Resource Center (LRC), the first fully simulated birthing lab in Micronesia equipped with hospital beds, equipment, and supplies to simulate the hospital environment. Visitors will get to tour the facility, observe our full-body simulation manikins come to life, and watch our nursing students conduct health assessment demos with stethoscopes, reflex hammers, and more!


SOCIAL WORK STUDENT ALLIANCE WELLNESS ACTIVITY AND INFO BOOTH

In this exciting adventure, we’ll explore how Guam’s unique geology—made of limestone and volcanic rock—stores and filters rainwater to create the Northern Guam Lens Aquifer, our island’s main water source.
