SING Micronesia
The SING Micronesia program aims to enhance the knowledge of genetics and its social implications among indigenous Micronesian communities through a week-long internship hosted at the University of Guam.
Participants will receive instruction and hands-on laboratory experience from genetic experts from renown national and international academic institutions.
Must have Indigenous ancestry from the Micronesian region.
The following individuals are encouraged to apply:
Individuals residing outside of Guam will have travel, room/board, and food costs covered.
Prior knowledge of genetics is not a requirement
Applications are under review by the admissions committee. We will send out notification and updates in the later half of April.

Q. How do I submit my Resume/CV and my Transcripts?
After you complete the application form, you will be sent an email with a link to upload both files. These files must be in .pdf format.
Q. What costs are covered in the program?
For regional scholars, costs such as travel, accommodations, and food. Scholars residing in Guam will only have food costs covered.
Q. When will I receive word on the status of my application?
We will send out a notification to all applicants around early to mid April.
Q. I am have indigenous ancestry from the Micronesian Islands listed but I am residing/ am a student in the mainland United States. Am I eligible?
Yes, we will consider applicants from mainland US of indigenous Micronesian descent.
Q. How will my reference be able to submit their recommendation?
We will email instructions to your reference about submitting their reference on your behalf. Ensure that the information you provide about your reference is correct.
Q. How long will references have to submit their recommendation?
References are due three days after your application. References will have until March 7th to submit their information. Failure to do so will result in an incomplete application.
Q. I have made a mistake on my submitted application. Will I be able to make corrections?
No, please make sure everything is correct prior to submission.
Q. How is this program funded?
This program is a joint collaboration between the University of Guam and the University of Otago in New Zealand. This program is funded through the Royal Society of New Zealand Marsden Grant.
