Society of Emeritus Professors & Retired Scholars
The Society of Emeritus Professors and Retired Scholars (SEPRS) was established in 1989 during the presidency of Dr. Wilfred P. Leon Guerrero. The Society utilizes its members in the areas of teaching, research and public service to promote the growth and increase the productivity of the University. The offices, conference room and classroom are housed in Emeritus Hall which is located in the MARC/ Computer Center/GLE building on the UOG Campus.
The University of Guam has recognized Dr. Judith "Judi" Guthertz for her decades of dedication and service by naming her Vice President Emerita in the Society of Emeritus Professors & Retired Scholars (SEPRS).
On October 18, 2024, the University of Guam’s Society of Emeritus Professors (SEPRS) awarded scholarships to six exceptional UOG students for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The University of Guam Society of Emeritus Professors (SEPRS) recently awarded scholarships to seven UOG students this academic year.
Two students from CNAS, one from SOH, and one from SOE were awarded SEPRS Scholarships for the coming school year.
Hiroyasu Kurashina, emeritus director of the Micronesian Area Research Center at the University of Guam, on May 21 received the Order of the Sacred Treasure award from Japan.

The UOG Society of Emeritus Professors & Retired Scholars (SEPRS) conducted its annual election of officers at its spring general membership meeting held at Emeritus Hall on campus on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. The unanimously elected new officers for the 2024-2025 term are (From left to right): Prof. Dee Leon Guerrero (Treasurer), Dr. Lawrence Kasperbauer (Vice President), Dr. Hiro Kurashina (President), and Dr. Kathryn Wood (Secretary).

The SEPRS Scholarship for AY2025-2026
Eligible applicants may obtain application packets online at the UOG Financial Office’s website, https://www.uog.edu/financial-aid/scholarships after the official announcement to be made in early March, 2025.
SEPRS Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
The SEPRS Scholarship eligibility criteria are:

- The applicant must be a registered full-time University of Guam undergraduate or graduate student and may hold any citizenship
- The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- All applicants must submit at least one letter of recommendation
- The applicant must write an essay describing academic and personal goals, and explaining how the SEPRS Scholarship will be helpful for achieving these goals (300-500 words).
