Micronesian Educator, a journal of the School of Education at the University of Guam, publishes scholarly articles that come from a wide range of areas of educational research and related disciplines. The journal serves as a forum to share empirical findings, literature reviews, theoretical perspectives, and practical applications in such areas.

The journal welcomes:

  • Research papers
  • Essays on theory and philosophy of education
  • Position papers
  • Opinion papers
  • Action research (by faculty and graduate students)
  • Creative writing (poetry, fiction, and personal essays)
  • Book reviews
  • Teaching tips

For Volume 34, as with all earlier issues, the Micronesian Educator  seeks papers that address student success, academic performance, pedagogical problems, and examples and case studies of student engagement in higher education. Of particular interest will be papers related to faculty or student success, challenges during online learning, and approaches to creating authentic learning conversations with students.

Articles, essays

The editors would like to establish a section of Volume 34 devoted entirely to articles and essays focused on the pedagogy of learners in transition to site-based learning, social-emotional learning, reconstructing learning spaces, and learner preparedness to engage in higher learning environment.

Guam endured the aftermath of Typhoon Mawar, and the infrastructure at school sites poses challenges to provide K-12 learners with a safe learning space. A transition to a temporary online learning platform also challenges parents, teachers, and students. Articles of community challenges with solution conversations are welcome.

Reports of research, descriptions of innovative teaching practices, and new empirical findings will also be considered.
