All students who wish to major in education must apply and be admitted to the School of Education. Deadlines for admission are October 17 for Fanuchånan/Fall semesters and March 15 for Fañomnåkan/Spring semesters. Enrollment in 300 and 400 level education courses requires admission into the School of Education.
Requirements for Admission of Pre-Education Students
The student must submit an application for admission to the School of Education, via his/her LiveText account, demonstrating that he/she has at the point of application met the following requirements:
- Completed at least 48 semester credit hours at the end of the semester the application
is filed, including the following courses and General Education requirements:
- ED110 (or equivalent) and 201
- PY101
- General Education Requirements: EN110 & EN111, CO210
- ED265 is encouraged or HI211, one science course, MA110 or higher
- Earned a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.7 based upon all credits earned at the time of application
- Signed a waiver to allow review of all academic records
- Submitted passing Official Praxis Core scores for reading (156), writing (162), and
math (150)
- NOTE: If the applicant took Praxis I, passing scores are 173 for reading, 170 for writing, and 170 for math
- Praxis test are available to be taken from home. See ETS website for more information
- Free Praxis practice tests available on the Khan Academy. See the Official Praxis® Core Prep at Khan Academy.
- Submission of a disposition rubrics form
- You need to submit one (1) Disposition form. All the information needed should be on the form.
- If you have been a student with SOE, then you just need one (1) from any professor who is outside of Education if you are majoring in Elementary, or one (1) from your content field if you are majoring in Secondary.
- If you are a transfer student and currently not taking SOE education courses then we will need you to list two (2) Education professors from your previous institution and a general education (for Elementary Ed. majors) or content ( for Secondary Ed. major) professor.

Frequently Asked Questions
If a student transfers from GCC, they need to get two disposition forms completed by GCC education faculty?
- Yes, a student who transfers will need two dispositions from GCC education faculty.
Every applicant must have one GE or content disposition?
- Yes, we require one content for Secondary Education majors or one GE for Elementary Education majors.
How do I register for the Praxis Tests?
- See video on How to Register for the Praxis Tests.
- Note: Students need to search for the testing center via Zip code, not by choosing Guam as a state.
Can I still apply if I haven't taken or passed the Praxis tests?
- The Portfolio Application will not be reviewed unless the student has passed at least 2 of 3 Praxis tests by the due date and the remaining test scheduled. The application will be denied and can be resubmitted before the next deadline (March 15 or October 18).
How many disposition forms do I have to submit when applying for SOE?

For the disposition form, does the professor (who is the point of contact) have to be working full time at UOG? What if the professor is only working part time this semester?
- No, as long as you have taken the professor and they remember you enough to complete a disposition rubric. the professor does not need to be working full-time.
Can a professor I am currently complete my disposition rubric?
- Yes.
