Several University of Guam maintenance employees who once worked as custodians have transformed their careers by becoming certified journeyman electricians and HVAC technicians through the GCA Trades Academy. Just six years ago, many were sweeping floors and changing lightbulbs while hoping for opportunities to advance. Today, after completing apprenticeship programs, these dedicated workers have elevated their careers and strengthened the university’s technical capacity—turning determination, hands-on learning, and institutional support into life-changing professional achievements.
