In Guam, you don’t need to look far to see the impact of aggressive vines spreading across the landscape. Chain-of-love (Antigonon leptopus), mile-a-minute (Mikania micrantha), and luffa or sponge gourd (Luffa aegyptiaca) are seen along roadways and disturbed areas across the island. Why are these vines so dominant in Guam? The simple answer is that they have found an open niche in a brand-new environment.
