The simple question, “What are we talking about?” is sometimes more complex than it appears.

A few weeks ago, I wrote that we cannot not communicate. If we are with someone, we always communicate, even if we are silent. This week I write about an equally important axiom of human communication, the content and relationship levels of every human communication. Paul Watzlawick first wrote about it in his book “Pragmatics of Human Communication.” Since I read about it more than 50 years ago, these theoretical concepts have been of great practical value throughout my professional and personal life.
