UOG Tritons and the Phantoms Reach The Finals of Triton Men's Volleyball League Championship
The #1 seeded UOG Tritons secured a spot in the finals of the Triton Men’s Volleyball League Championship on Tuesday, September 30, with a 3-0 victory over the Andersen Bombers, while the Phantoms defeated the Southern Sutteru 3-1 to advance to the championship match.
In the nightcap, the Tritons faced a tough challenge against the Bombers. Although
the match ended 3-0, each set was closely contested, with scores of 27-25, 25-23,
and 25-23.
The first set was a nail-biter, as both teams traded points late in the frame. The
Bombers held off the Tritons twice at set point before UOG finally closed it out.
The second set mirrored the first, with the Tritons narrowly securing the win.
In the third set, the Tritons built a comfortable lead, but a disputed call sparked
a Bombers comeback. Despite the challenge, UOG regained momentum and closed out the
set to win the match 3-0. With this victory, the Tritons remain undefeated at 5-0,
while the Bombers dropped to 2-4.
Earlier, the Phantoms overcame the Southern Sutteru 3-1. After losing to the Sutteru
3-0 in the regular season, the Phantoms came out strong, taking the first two sets
25-19 each. Southern fought back in the third set, edging out the Phantoms 25-23 and
forcing a fourth set.
The final set was tightly contested, with both teams trading points and holding off
set point opportunities, eventually reaching a 29-29 tie. The Phantoms scored two
consecutive points to win 31-29, securing the match. This victory improved their record
to 3-2 and advanced them to the championship, while the Sutteru will face the Bombers
in the third-place match on Tuesday, October 7.
