Barbecue buffs island-wide are invited once again to refine their grilling skills at a BBQ Bootcamp being offered by the University of Guam Land Grant. Following prior BBQ Bootcamps on Boston butt, pulled pork, lamb kebabs, and tinala’ katne, UOG meat and animal scientist Jeng-Hung Liu will this time guide participants in the art and science behind the perfect ribs.

BBQ Bootcamp: Rib Essentials
Time: 10 a.m. – Noon
Date: Saturday, June 20
Location: University of Guam campus
Fee: $35

The bootcamp will be part lecture, part hands-on, with participants learning about the different primal cuts of pork and their characteristics, how to prepare pork ribs for slow smoking, and helpful tips for smoking ribs at home.

Each participant will get to enjoy ribs during the workshop and take home one fully cooked rack of ribs as well as one pre-seasoned, ready-to-cook rack.

Registration and payment

The class is limited to the first 25 registrants. Interested residents can register at https://url.uog.edu/bbq-ribs. The fee is $35. For more information, please call (671) 735-2080 or email Gwindaleen Espulgar at espulgarg@triton.uog.edu.
