It was a memorable Saturday for the University of Guam, as the UOG Tritons secured their first Triton Men’s Basketball League win in over a year while also welcoming five new members into the UOG Athletic Hall of Fame and presenting a special recognition to John Borden.

The newest members of the UOG Athletic Hall of Fame, Class of 2025, are:

  • Jude Camacho – Field House Staff
  • John W. San Nicolas II – Men’s Basketball
  • Kin Fejeran – Football and Men’s Basketball
  • Rachelle Santos Camacho – Women’s Soccer and Basketball\
  • Leon P.C. Bamba – Men’s Volleyball

John Borden was also recognized with the reinstatement of retired uniform No. 83.

The Class of 2025 was honored at a reception prior to the game and formally inducted during a halftime ceremony.
The Tritons added to the celebration with an 81-68 victory over the MicroFriends in the Hall of Fame game. The win marked UOG’s first victory in the Triton League in over a year, and its first Hall of Fame game win.

UOG took control early, building a 19-11 lead in the first quarter. The Tritons extended their advantage in the second quarter, scoring 26 points, with Michael Sanchez contributing 10 in the period, to take a 45-30 lead at halftime.
The second half was evenly played, with the MicroFriends outscoring UOG 38-36, but the Tritons maintained their lead to secure the 81-68 win.

Rico Taitague led the Tritons with 18 points, while Isaac Snively added 15. Johnny Ignacio paced all scorers with 25 points for the MicroFriends, and Lawrence Tisalona added 20.

The Tritons opened the season at 1-0, while the MicroFriends fell to 0-1.

Two more Triton Men’s Basketball League games are scheduled for Sunday, March 15:

  • 4:30 p.m. – UOG Tritons vs. Northern Construction
  • 6:15 p.m. – MicroFriends vs. Andersen Bombers

All games are played at the UOG Calvo Field House. The Triton Men’s Basketball League also begins streaming games on the Clutch Sports Channel.
