The new pathways are the Bachelor of Arts in Education: Educational Studies, which prepares graduates for a broad range of education-focused careers, and the Bachelor of Arts in Education: Elementary Education – Early Childhood Intervention Track, which leads to teacher licensure in early childhood intervention. Together, these programs expand opportunities for students to pursue meaningful careers in education—from licensed classroom teaching to community-based learning, youth development, and educational support professions.

The Bachelor of Arts in Education: Educational Studies offers students a flexible pathway into the education profession through careers in youth development, community organizations, charter and private schools, educational support services, nonprofit organizations, workforce training, and other learning-centered fields. Designed for students pursuing education careers outside the traditional teacher licensure pathway, the program allows graduates to enter the workforce without completing teacher certification examinations such as the Praxis.

The Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education: Early Childhood Intervention Track prepares future elementary educators with specialized knowledge and skills to support young children, families, and diverse learners. The program emphasizes inclusive, culturally responsive, and evidence-based practices in child development, assessment, family partnerships, social-emotional learning, and individualized intervention. It is designed to prepare graduates to meet the needs of children during their most critical years of development.

The two new degree pathways reflect the School of Education's commitment to strengthening Guam's educator workforce while expanding opportunities for students interested in a broad range of education-related careers. The programs also support the University's mission of serving Guam and the Western Pacific through education, research, and service by preparing professionals equipped to meet the changing needs of schools, families, and communities.
