Every year, Guam’s farmers and home gardeners face a familiar dilemma: Trees are abundant with fruit, but much of it ripens all at once. While sharing mangoes or breadfruit with neighbors is a cherished local tradition, additional excess produce often ends up rotting on the ground, resulting in food waste and lost economic opportunity. One effective solution is to transform fresh produce into value-added products.
