UOG Horizons: Knowledge for Life - The University of Guam heartbeat initiative

February is recognized as American Heart Month, a national observance led by the American Heart Association to raise awareness about heart health and emergency preparedness. Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death, but early recognition, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and access to automated external defibrillators can make a critical difference when cardiac emergencies occur.
Here on Guam, caring for one another is part of who we are. Our island culture is rooted in connection, family and a deep sense of care for one another, especially when it comes to protecting our manåmko’ and supporting each other in times of need. Creating a heart-healthy community begins with awareness, education and the confidence to act when seconds matter.
