Learn simple ways to chesa smarter at snack-focused nutrition workshop series at UOG

The SNAP-Ed Program under University of Guam Land Grant invites community members to participate in a free nutrition education workshop series titled Mindful Chesa & Snacking. The series is designed to help adults build practical skills for healthier everyday living with a focus on chesa, the CHamoru term for appetizers and snacks.
The four-session workshop series is open to adults ages 18 and older and will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursdays throughout February: Feb. 5, 12, 19, and 26. All sessions will be held on the UOG campus in the Agriculture & Life Sciences Building, Room 125.
Led by UOG Land Grant’s registered dietitian nutritionist and SNAP-Ed coordinator, Tanisha Aflague, and UOG Extension SNAP-Ed educators Dianne Sardon, Katrina Nguyen, and Ella Macatugal, the series aims to empower local residents to make lasting impacts on their health and budget through small, achievable changes in their grocery shopping and cooking habits. Weekly lessons will cover:
Each session includes hands-on activities, goal-setting tools, and food taste testing for a variety of nutritious chesa recipes, including kangkong titiyas, gollai hågon suni, tofu spinach dip, and CHamoru-style cake with coconut flour.
Participants who attend at least three of the four workshops will receive free wellness items, including a grocery bag, measuring cups, a lunch box, and an exercise band.
This workshop series is part of UOG Land Grant’s and the SNAP-Ed Program’s ongoing efforts to empower communities with knowledge and skills for healthier lifestyles.
The workshop is open to all adults over the age of 18. Interested participants can
