The Super League was decided on February 19 with a 100-54 win by Fuetsa over the
Lady Tritons. Several other firsts took place during the night.
BallHers opened the night with a 79-54 win over JusForFuns in the third-place game.
BallHers started strong in the first quarter, outscoring JusForFuns 21-12 in the first
10 minutes. However, JusForFuns came back in the second quarter and made it competitive,
trailing by only six points at halftime, 34-28. In the third quarter, BallHers doubled
the output of JusForFuns, 24-12, took control of the game at 58-40, and cruised to
a 25-point win.
Edrianna Lorenzo led BallHers with 22 points, while Jenna DeLoach added 19. Arriah
Arceo scored 19 for JusForFuns and was the team’s only player in double figures.
BallHers finished with a 3-5 record in the Super League, while JusForFuns finished
0-8.
In the championship game, it was never a contest, as Fuetsa had too much firepower
for the Lady Tritons. Fuetsa led 22-9 at the end of the first quarter and 46-18 at
halftime.
In the second half, defense from both teams slowed, and the Lady Tritons won the third
quarter by outscoring Fuetsa 29-26. However, Fuetsa still led 72-47 heading into the
fourth quarter, and the only question was whether Fuetsa would score 100 points for
the eighth straight game.
The answer was yes, as Fuetsa scored 28 more points to finish the game and defeated
UOG 100-54.
Anslie Sarsalejo led Fuetsa with 23 points, while Lana Quinata and Jia Peters added
22 and 20 points, respectively. Amanda Uncangco led UOG with 22 points.
Fuetsa ended the Super League with an 8-0 record and scored 100 points in every league
game this season. Fuetsa averaged 108.4 points per game for the season. The Lady Tritons
finished 5-3, with all three losses coming against Fuetsa.
UOG’s season tied for its best finish in the Super League, as the team previously
finished second several seasons ago to the Lady Bombers.
Amanda Uncangco became the first Lady Triton to complete a four-year career as both
a student and student-athlete. She will graduate this semester after playing four
years of women’s basketball. It is believed Uncangco may be the first UOG athlete
in the new athletic department to compete in four seasons for the Tritons since the
program began 10 years ago.
The Super League announced a 12-member All-League Team after the championship game,
along with a Most Valuable Player award.
