World Theater Productions (WTP) and the Guam Philharmonic Foundation (GPF) awarded $10,000 in scholarship funds to nineteen University of Guam student-athletes to support their educational needs. The scholarship presentation took place on Friday, September 26, at the UOG Calvo Field House.

The four current UOG sports, Men’s and Women’s Volleyball and Men’s and Women’s Basketball, each received $2,500 in scholarships. Teammates, families, and several cast members from the Jesus Christ Superstar production, which raised the scholarship funds, joined in the celebration.

The evening began with host Kailey Quidachay introducing the program’s speakers. Triton Athletics Director Doug Palmer and UOG Endowment Foundation Executive Director Katrina Perez welcomed attendees on behalf of the University and expressed gratitude to WTP and GPF for their contributions to the Endowment Foundation. Guam Philharmonic Foundation President Maximo Ronquillo and World Theater Productions Executive Producer Margarita “Margie” Dancel briefly discussed the arts and athletics, noting that both are kindred spirits.

Afterward, Quidachay introduced the scholarship recipients, who were selected by their coaches for their athletic prowess, team spirit, and Triton pride.
