UOG Welcomes Taiwan Young Ambassadors for Regional Diplomacy and Leadership Exchange
The University of Guam’s Regional Center for Public Policy (RCPP) proudly hosted a 43-member delegation of Taiwan Young Ambassadors from across Taiwan, marking a vibrant exchange of ideas, leadership insights, and regional collaboration in the Indo-Pacific.
During their visit, the delegation participated in a high-profile panel on August
29, 2025, on the UOG campus featuring Congressman James Moylan, Speaker Frank Blas
Jr., USMC Capt. (Ret.) Charlie Hermosa, and USMC Master Gunnery Sgt. (Ret.) and RCPP
Fellow Joseph Vitt Jr. Panel discussions highlighted leadership, regional security,
public policy, and Guam’s strategic importance in the Indo-Pacific, offering the young
ambassadors and students firsthand perspectives from influential leaders.
The program also included meetings with local leaders, providing meaningful engagement
with students and community members. Delegates explored opportunities for economic,
cultural, and educational collaboration between Guam and Taiwan while fostering mutual
understanding and sharing best practices in governance and youth leadership.
“This visit demonstrates the strong ties between Guam and Taiwan and reinforces our commitment to cultivating the next generation of leaders while strengthening Guam’s voice in Indo-Pacific affairs,” said Chirag M. Bhojwani, Director of the Regional Center for Public Policy at the University of Guam. “Projects like this, which focus on capacity building and hands-on learning for our students, embody the vision of Dean Roseann Jones and the entire Public Administration and Legal Studies Division of the School of Business and Public Administration. We are proud to advance that vision through meaningful regional engagement and educational opportunities.”
“We also thank the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan and the Guam Taipei Economic and Cultural Office for their partnership in making this program possible,” added Bhojwani.
The Taiwan Young Ambassador Program equips emerging leaders with hands-on experience in diplomacy and public policy, creating networks that support ongoing cooperation and mutual understanding. Guam’s participation underscores its proactive role in advancing regional engagement and fostering meaningful people-to-people exchanges.
