UOG Tritons and Troupe Reached Triton League Winner's Bracket Final
The Triton Men's Volleyball League Playoffs began Thursday night, March 6, at the UOG Calvo Field House, following the seeding as the #1 and #2 seeds won their matches and advanced to face each other on Tuesday, March 11. The lower seeds will compete in the first elimination match.
The #2 seed UOG Tritons defeated the #3 seed Andersen Bombers 3-1 in the opening match. UOG dominated the first set, winning 25-16, as the Bombers fell behind early and couldn't recover. The Tritons took a tougher second set, 25-22, to go up 2-0.
Andersen fought back in the third set, winning 25-22 to cut the deficit to 2-1, but UOG sealed the victory with a 25-19 win in the fourth. The Tritons improved to 5-2, while the Bombers dropped to 2-5.
In the second match, the #4 seed Team Elevate started strong, upsetting the top-seeded Troupe 25-20 in the first set. Troupe responded with a dominant 25-10 win in the second to even the match at 1-1.
Troupe took control in the third set, winning 25-18 to lead 2-1. Team Elevate fought back in the fourth, earning set points, but Troupe held on for a 26-24 win, taking the match 3-1.
Troupe moved to 6-1 on the season, while Team Elevate is now 1-6.
The double elimination playoffs continue next Tuesday night, with Troupe facing the UOG Tritons in the winner's bracket while the Andersen Bombers take on Team Elevate in the first elimination round of the playoffs.
