The University of Guam has appointed Dr. Pamela A. Peralta as its Vice Provost of Research and Sponsored Programs, where she will lead UOG’s research enterprise, grant activities, and sponsored projects.

Peralta, who has served in the vice provost role in an interim capacity since November 2023 and as Director of Grants and Contracts since 2020, brings more than 13 years of federal grant experience in Micronesia, along with a career spanning higher education, organizational leadership, and public service. She has overseen more than $60 million annually in research proposals and awards at UOG and has led initiatives to strengthen compliance, interdisciplinary collaboration, and faculty and student research opportunities.

“Research at UOG is vital to the prosperity and resilience of our island and region,” said Dr. Anita Borja Enriquez, President of the University of Guam. “Dr. Peralta’s leadership and proven record in securing and supporting competitive grants and contracts will advance UOG’s role as a trusted source of knowledge and innovation.”

As vice provost, Peralta oversees the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs and provides strategic direction for securing competitive funding, fostering partnerships, and guiding UOG’s nine research centers, which include the Guam EPSCoR, Marine Laboratory, Water and Environmental Research Institute, Center for Island Sustainability, Micronesian Area Research Center, and the Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research, and Service. She also chairs the University Research Council and supports efforts to grow research in areas such as terrestrial and marine biology, climate resilience, island sustainability, cultural preservation, and public health.

“I am honored to continue serving the University of Guam in this role,” Peralta said. “Our research reflects the unique strengths of our region, and I look forward to expanding opportunities that benefit our island, our students, and our partners across Micronesia.”

Peralta holds a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Argosy University Hawaii, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix Hawaii, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Mills College with additional credentials in grants management and strategic management.

Beyond her administrative leadership, Peralta has served as principal investigator or co-principal investigator on multiple federal awards, including projects funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the National Science Foundation, and the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration.

About Research at UOG

The University of Guam’s Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) oversees grant acquisition and research initiatives across UOG’s nine research centers. In March 2025, UOG was designated a Research College and University (RCU) by the Carnegie Classification, recognizing institutions with significant research activity. This places UOG among just 216 institutions nationwide with this designation and reaffirms its leadership in advancing research throughout Micronesia. ORSP facilitates more than $60 million in awards annually to support research that strengthens the region’s health, environment, and cultural resilience.
