April through August marks a boom time for fruit seasonality in Guam, when a majority of local fruits are in peak availability and flavor. While mango, avocado, and others tend to steal the limelight, there is one highly nutritious, versatile and abundant fruit that is largely underutilized: breadfruit.

Just last year, Wired.com published the article “Breadfruit is Here to Save the World,” citing not only its productivity as one of the highest yielding food plants in the world, but its tolerance to extreme heat and weather changes. Forbes also published an article in 2023, saying breadfruit’s resilience and nutritional benefits could make it the next global food trend.
