April is National Native Plants Month, an ideal time to reimagine your landscaping and consider the many benefits of using native plants and trees in place of imported varieties.

Propagating native plants and trees on properties around the island provides a needed boost to our island’s overall ecosystem. Native plants supply the type of food and habitat that other native wildlife — birds, animals, or other plants — have always depended on. Imported plants, on the other hand, can harbor non-native insects and diseases that can decimate whole populations of trees and plants.
