Team Austability Reaches Triton League Championship With Victory Over KFC Bombers
Team Austability reached the Triton Men’s Basketball League Championship game with an 85-75 win over the KFC Bombers on Wednesday night, April 23. The game was won more through defense than offense, as Austability kept the Bombers in check for most of the night.
Austability’s defense started off strong in the first quarter, holding the Bombers to 8 points in the opening 10 minutes. While Team Austability led after the first period, 21-8, the Bombers improved in the second quarter, scoring 19 points. However, Austability added 29 to their total to go up 50-27 at halftime.
The KFC Bombers had a long talk over halftime and came out hot in the third period, outscoring Team Austability 29-18. Tez Williams led the charge with 11 points in the quarter, cutting Austability’s lead to 68-56 heading into the fourth.
The KFC Bombers were able to cut the lead down to 10 points three times in the final 10 minutes but couldn’t get any closer, losing the game 85-75.
Joe Blas led the National Team squad with 28 points, and Ben Borja added 21. Tez Williams scored 23 for the KFC Bombers, while Thariq Harvey added 17.
Team Austability is now 9-1 on the season, while the Bombers fell to 7-3, with all three losses to Team Austability.
Team Austability is now in the championship game of the Triton League on May 5. Team Austability has to be beaten twice to lose the championship.
The KFC Bombers will play on Friday, May 2, and they will play the winner of UOG Tritons and Fairmesh on Monday, April 28. The winner of the May 2 game advances to the Triton League Championship to face Team Austability.
