Officials gathered Tuesday at the GCA Trades Academy in Tiyan for a four-day biosecurity workshop aimed at modernizing the territory's defense against invasive species and establishing a coordinated emergency response framework.

The biosecurity training workshop, jointly hosted by the University of Guam Cooperative Extension and Outreach and the Guam Department of Agriculture, brings together local and federal government officials, port authorities and industry stakeholders to assess and enhance Guam's biosecurity measures.

"One of the most important things we hope to accomplish is a well-developed communication system between all of our state partners, our regional partners, and our federal partners," said Chelsa Muña, director of the Guam Department of Agriculture. "That'll help us align our policies, our procedures and our strategy."
