The University of Guam Triton Athletics and Field House Department awarded three scholarships on Wednesday night, April 16, to two women's basketball players and one men's basketball player. The scholarships, known as the Gage Johnson Scholarships, are named after UOG Athletic Hall of Fame member Gage Johnson, who donated $2,000 to Triton Athletics through the UOG Endowment Foundation. The scholarships are designated for both men's and women's basketball players.

Gage Johnson played basketball for UOG during the 1967-68 season and was the first Triton to average 21 points per game in a season, as well as the first player to score 40 points in a single game for the team. Now residing in California, Johnson has made this $2,000 donation for the third time since being inducted into the UOG Hall of Fame three years ago.

The recipients of the scholarships were Marie Duenas and Kai Quidachy, who each received a $500 scholarship for women's basketball, and Tristan Valdes from the men's team, who received a $1,000 scholarship.
