Fuetsa Jumps on MVP Lady Stars Early, BallHers Defeats Stingrays Black in Super League
Fuetsa opened their match against the MVP Lady Stars with a 14-0 run and went on to win 108-88 in the Lady Triton Super League on Monday night, February 3. The BallHers defeated the Stingrays Black 64-49 in the other matchup at the UOG Calvo Field House.
In the nightcap, Fuetsa started strong with a 14-0 run, fueled by 9 points from Nicolette Perez and 8 from Mia San Nicolas in the first 10 minutes, building a 25-15 lead after the first quarter. Fuetsa hit four three-pointers in the second quarter from three different players, extending their lead to 54-33 at halftime.
The MVP Lady Stars fought back, cutting Fuetsa’s lead to 10 by the end of the third quarter, scoring 33 points in the period, with Jia Peters contributing 12 and the team sinking five three-pointers, narrowing the gap to 76-66 heading into the fourth.
The Lady Stars closed the gap to five points in the final quarter with six three-pointers, but Fuetsa pulled away with Mia San Nicolas and Nic Perez leading the way again with 12 and 8 points to win the game 108-88.
Mia San Nicolas led Fuetsa with 36 points, and Nicolette Perez added 28. Jia Peters led the MVP Lady Stars with 33 points, while Sazzy Quintanilla scored 22 on the night for the MVPs.
Fuetsa is now 3-0 in the league, while the MVP Lady Stars fell to 1-2 in the Super League.
In the opener, the Stingrays Black played well in the first quarter, leading 16-14 after the first 10 minutes over the BallHers. However, the Black’s offense slowed in the second, scoring only 8 points, while the BallHers scored 17 to take a 31-24 halftime lead.
The third quarter followed a similar pattern as the second, with the Stingrays scoring just 8 points again and the BallHers adding 19 to extend their lead to 50-32. The Stingrays mounted a small comeback in the fourth, scoring 17 points, but it was not enough as the BallHers won 64-49.
Anslie Sarsalejo led the BallHers with 19 points, while Ani Shiroma scored 19 for the Stingrays.
The BallHers improved to 2-1, while the Stingrays Black fell to 0-3.
