Austin Fortuno, a Spring 2024 graduate of UOG’s Secondary Education and History program, is a prime example of how a UOG education prepares students not only for their intended fields but also for opportunities that make a lasting impact on the community. |
Now a Paralegal in the Attorney General’s Office, Fortuno credits his UOG experience with giving him the critical thinking, communication, and adaptability necessary to succeed in a fast-paced legal environment.
"My time at UOG instilled in me a deep sense of civic responsibility and a passion for lifelong learning. The skills I developed—critical thinking, communication, and adaptability—have been invaluable in my role at the Attorney General’s Office and in serving our island community," said Fortuno.
Through his student teaching internship at John F. Kennedy High School, he gained firsthand experience in professional settings, learning to be resourceful and effective under pressure—skills that now serve him well in his legal career.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Fortuno is actively engaged in public service, contributing to the Attorney General’s Office School Tours and educating students on the dangers of drug use. His ability to connect with young people stems from his background in education—an example of how UOG graduates bring their expertise and passion to fields beyond the classroom.
With a strong foundation built at UOG, Fortuno’s journey highlights the university’s role in developing professionals who are not only career-ready but also dedicated to the progress and well-being of Guam.
