The MVP Lady Stars started strong, but Fuetsa finished stronger, claiming the Lady Triton Super League championship with a 94-77 victory Monday night at the UOG Calvo Field House. Stingrays Gray secured third place with a hard-fought 79-74 win over BallHers.

In the championship game, the MVP Lady Stars got off to a strong start, led by Sazzy Quintanilla’s 17 first-quarter points, giving them a 31-26 lead after 10 minutes. However, Fuetsa tightened up defensively in the second quarter, holding the MVPs to just 14 points. Behind 10 points from Mia San Nicolas, Fuetsa took a 51-45 lead into halftime.

Fuetsa extended their lead in the third quarter, holding the Lady Stars to just 14 points while adding 19 of their own to take a 70-59 advantage into the fourth. They dominated the final period, outscoring the MVPs 25-17 to secure a 94-77 victory.

Super League MVP Mia San Nicolas led Fuetsa with 34 points in the evening, while Nicolette Perez scored 15. Sazzy Quintanilla scored 27 for the MVPs but was held to 4 points in the 2nd half. Lana Quinata added 24 for the Lady Stars.

Fuetsa ended the season with a 7-0 record, while the MVP Lady Stars were 5-3.

In the opener, Stingrays Gray edged BallHers 79-75 in a hard-fought game. Despite playing with small rosters (6 vs. 6), BallHers challenged the Stingrays throughout.

The Gray took the lead in the first period, 23-15, as Maria Paulino scored 10 points for the Stingrays. However, BallHers came right back in the 2nd quarter, outscoring the Stingrays 23-17, with Anslie Sarselejo scoring 11 for the BallHers. The Stingrays led at halftime, 40-38.

The third period was an even battle, as the Gray won the quarter 21-18 and led by 5 going into the final period, 61-56. The fourth period was another even battle, as BallHers outscored the Stingrays 19-18, but the Stingrays won the game by four points, 79-75.

Maria Paulino and Maya Torre led the Stingrays Gray with 21 and 20 points, respectively. Anslie Sarselejo and Shaniah Aguon led the BallHers with 23 and 22 points.

The Stingrays Gray finished the season with a 5-2 record, while the BallHers fell to 3-5.

The Lady Triton Super League will play their All-Star game on Wednesday, March 19 at 7:00 pm. The All-Star game will feature a 3-point shooting contest at halftime.
