The University of Guam Triton Men's Basketball Team split games last Thursday, December 19, in the Golden Hoops tournament at the UOG Calvo Field House. The UOGers opened with a 56-49 loss to Puff Supply but bounced back to defeat the Sugod All-Stars 56-55 in double overtime.

In their loss to Puff Supply, UOG played evenly in the first half, entering halftime tied at 24-24, with Michael Quinata leading the Tritons with 9 points. In the second half, Eric Reyes spearheaded Puff Supply's offense with 12 points as they outscored UOG 32-25. The Tritons struggled to make shots during the final five minutes, losing 56-49.

Tyler Concepcion led UOG with 14 points on the night, while Eric Reyes led Puff Supply with 24 points.

In their second game of the night, the Tritons were again tied at halftime, 21-21, with Tyler Concepcion leading the way for UOG with 13 points in the first 20 minutes. In the second half, UOG fell behind by 9 points but mounted a late-game rally, led by Coach Argie Flores and Rico Taitague, who each scored 11 points during the final 20 minutes of regulation. The game ended tied at 48-48.

In the first 2-minute overtime, UOG was up by 3 points with 4 seconds to go, but Sugod hit a half-court shot to tie it again at 51-51. The teams went to a 2nd two-minute overtime.

UOG had a 3-point lead again in the 2nd overtime, but the All-Stars were able to cut it to 1. However, they could not overcome the Tritons, who won the game 56-55.

Argie Flores led UOG with 15 points, while Tyler Concepcion and Rico Taitague added 13 each, and Rennel Hernandez scored 14 for Sugod All-Stars.

UOG is now 1-2 in the Golden Hoops tournament and plays again on Sunday at 4:00 pm against the Mobil BrotherHoops.
