UOG Tritons Defeat Mobil BrotherHood 62-50
The University of Guam Triton Men's Basketball Team defeated the Mobil BrotherHood 62-50 in the Golden Hoops Tournament at the UOG Calvo Field House on Monday night, December 23.
The first half was a back-and-forth contest, with both teams exchanging leads until Brotherhood secured the final lead of the half, 28-27. Jerome Santos scored 12 points for Mobil in the first half, while Michael Quinata contributed 11 points for the Tritons in the opening 20 minutes.
The game was decided at the foul line for UOG. The Tritons held the lead going into the final minutes, but the Mobil Brotherhood resorted to fouling to stop the clock in the last two minutes. UOG made 10 foul shots in the game's final minutes to win 62-50.
Michael Quinata scored 20 points for the Tritons, while Rico Taitgue and Tyler Concepcion added 14 and 13, respectively, for UOG. Jerome Santos scored 15 for Mobil BrotherHood.
The Tritons are 2-3 in the Golden Hoops tournament, while the Mobil BrotherHood is 0-5. The Tritons play two games on Christmas Eve, with a game at 6:30 pm against the Imperials (1-4) and 7:30 pm against the Inalajan Hawks (3-2). The Mobil BrotherHood plays again on Thursday against Puff Supply at 7:30 pm.
Thursday ends the round-robin part of the tournament. The playoff round starts on Friday night, and championships for both the men's and co-ed divisions are scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
