KFC Bombers beat MicroFriends, Northern Construction wins by forfeit
The KFC Bombers defeated the MicroFriends 88-72 on Sunday, the final day of the regular season in the Triton Men's Basketball League, while Northern Construction won by forfeit over Fair Zesh.
The MicroFriends started strong, led by Jose Ignacio's 9 points in the first quarter, and held a narrow 21-20 lead over the Bombers after the first 10 minutes. However, the MicroFriends offense would go into a deep freeze in the following two quarters. The KFC team outscored the MicroFriends 30-10, with Fredrick Kennedy contributing 10 points, to secure a 50-31 halftime lead.
The MicroFriends managed just 12 points in the third quarter as the Bombers scored 17, extending their lead by 5 points and ending the period at 67-43. Despite an offensive resurgence in the fourth quarter, where the MicroFriends scored 29 points, it was too little, too late. The Bombers added 21 points in the final period to secure an 88-72 victory.
Tezz Williams led the Bombers with 26 points, while Jose Ignacio was the MicroFriends' top scorer with 25 points.
The KFC Bombers ended the regular season with a 4-1 record, earning the #2 seed in the upcoming playoffs. The MicroFriends finished 2-3 and secured the #4 seed.
In the second game of the day, Fair Zesh had only four players after the five-minute grace period and forfeited the game to Northern Construction.
