In Memoriam: Dr. Paul Fleming
The University mourns the loss of Dr. Paul Fleming, former Associate Professor of experimental psychology at the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. He died on September 13, 2023, in Cork, Ireland.
Dr. Fleming joined UOG in November 2015 as an Associate Professor of clinical psychology. In the 2019-2022 academic year, he transitioned to his role as Associate Professor of experimental psychology. He retired in August 2022.
He completed his clinical training at the University of Manchester Medical School and did a period of clinical practice at The Institute of Psychiatry in London before completing his doctorate in experimental psychology at the University of Wales.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Applied Psychology at the University College Cork in Ireland, and a Master of Science in Applied Psychology, at the University of Manchester in England. Dr. Fleming won the UOG Graduate Faculty Award in 2020. The Award described Dr. Fleming as “always humble, hardworking, and down to earth.”
He provided many dedicated hours of service at Isa Psychological Services Center each week during his time with the Center, meeting with students for individual supervision, co-leading the Isa case conference, conducting clinical evaluations with clients, and carrying his own caseload of psychotherapy clients.
A celebration of life memorial for Dr. Fleming is scheduled for 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the CLASS Lecture Hall.
