Esports Program announces Marianas Varsity Valorant League kicks off October 22
The University of Guam Triton Esports Program and the Marianas Esports League announce the launch of the Marianas Varsity Valorant League, set to kick off on Sunday, October 22, 2023. In this competition, Guam high school teams will gather in person to battle it out in the popular game “Valorant.”
This esports league is officiated, streamed and organized by the athletes of Triton Esports with the assistance of the Marianas Esports League.
"Hosting a league like this is a prime opportunity for the athletes of Triton Esports to gain real-world experience in setting up and running a weekly event," said Ken San Nicolas, Esports Manager for UOG Triton Esports. "While the event will help introduce high schoolers to esports and hopefully recruit some of them to the University of Guam next year, it also provides the chance for direct mentorship with our collegiate athletes."
UOG Triton Esports aims to nurture a sense of community and camaraderie among young gamers while fostering healthy competition.
The competition additionally provides an opportunity for high school students to show their teamwork, strategies, and competitive spirit on the digital battlefield, San Nicolas added.
