Teachers invited to UOG workshop to help promote entrepreneurship
The University of Guam Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (C4EI) invites elementary and high school teachers to a free workshop this summer to learn creative ways to integrate entrepreneurship into their curricula.
The workshop, titled “ATISA: Illuminating Entrepreneurship Within the Classroom,” will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, in the Bank of Guam C4EI Resource Room in the Jesus and Eugenia Leon Guerrero School of Business and Public Administration building at UOG.
Daria Calvo, program coordinator for the ATISA, said she hopes the workshop will empower teachers to incorporate entrepreneurship exercises and economic terms in their classrooms. Atisa is CHamoru for intensify or accelerate.
“We hope that teachers find value in this workshop and realize the benefits of introducing kids to business at a young age, increasing their understanding of transactions and communication in our society,” Calvo said.
The workshop is aimed at helping teachers share the benefits and rewards of teaching entrepreneurial skills for the next generation.
Teachers and educational leaders looking for adaptive and immersive practices to learn the foundations of entrepreneurship, critical thinking, and cross-cultural interactions in business are encouraged to apply.
Participants will receive training materials, food and refreshments, and a stipend, which can be used toward the purchase of teaching supplies and materials.
Registration is limited to the first 20 applicants and can be submitted online at tinyurl.com/uogatisa.
The deadline to apply is Friday, June 1 at 5 p.m. or when capacity has been reached.
The workshop is funded in part through the Business and International Education grant received by C4EI in partnership with Mississippi College from the U.S. Department of Education for the development of youth entrepreneurship curricula and research.
