Message from the President | Tritons Helping Tritons - Typhoon Mawar Recovery
June 1, 2023
Håfa Adai, Triton Community:
Just a few days after we celebrated the resiliency and perseverance of our graduates during the Fañomnåkan 2023 Commencement Ceremony, our community has once again been tested—this time by the devastation caused by Typhoon Mawar.
Our campus sustained water and wind damage, and we still are waiting for the restoration of water and power service. Thankfully, no one was reported injured.
We are adamant in our resolve to bounce back from the aftermath of this storm.
Essential operations have been restarted, and many of our employees are back at work — including some who no longer have livable homes. We know there are more in our UOG Community who could use help, and we also know there are more of us who are willing to help with whatever we can.
Today, we are launching “Tritons Helping Tritons" to provide a mechanism for faculty, staff, administrators, and others in our Triton Community to assist their fellow Triton employees who were among the hardest hit by the typhoon. This program, coordinated by members of the President's Office, will also provide an avenue for our typhoon-devastated co-workers to let us know how we can help.
Tritons Helping Tritons will help us stand stronger together as a University Community.
Please view the flyer for more information or visit https://uog.edu/tritons-helping-tritons to help or seek assistance.
Thank you for all you do for UOG and for our broader Guam community.
Stay safe, Tritons!
President
