Faculty workshop, certificate course for online teaching, learning
The University of Guam’s Online Teaching Resources (OTR) Team is offering a workshop and a certificate course from July to August to help faculty gain skills for online teaching and learning and understand digital accessibility.
When: July 14 to 16, 2023
What is it: Participants will read and view tutorials to assist them in understanding Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as it applies to digital accessibility and create and update their course or other materials to meet ADA standards. As participants explore accessibility tools, they will engage in robust discussion with colleagues reflecting on their choices from the lens of the CHamoru cultural concept of Inafa’maolek and other cultural values.
When: July 28 to Aug. 11, 2023
What is it: In this online teaching certificate course, participants will learn about online
teaching theory and practice, course design, and student engagement. Participants
will evaluate their own teaching practices and materials to learn how to effectively
transition from a face-to-face curriculum to a hybrid or fully online (asynchronous)
course delivery.
Additionally, participants will learn, practice, and demonstrate foundational online
teaching techniques using many of the resources and activities on Moodle. Participants
will complete this course with their own high-quality online course syllabus and a
bundle of essential Moodle skills.
