Fun with fibers: Chem students get into costume for National Chemistry Week
For the fifth year in a row, chemistry students at the University of Guam celebrated National Chemistry Week in October by coming up with creative costumes based on this year’s theme of Fabulous Fibers: The Chemistry of Fabrics.
Students in Professor Tedros Bezabeh’s General Chemistry (CH-102) and upper-level Foundations of Physical Chemistry (CH-350) and Physical Chemistry (CH-450) classes were tasked with posting a photo of themselves in costume and wearing their costumes to class.
National Chemistry Week is a community-based program of the American Chemical Society that unites local AWS sections, student chapters, businesses, schools, and individuals in communicating the important of chemistry to our quality of life.
The annual national event makes chemistry fun and increases student interest in the subject, Bezabeh said.
