12 scholarship spots open for prospective SBPA students who work in GovGuam
The University of Guam’s School of Business and Public Administration announces the opening of applications for the Pedro “Doc” Sanchez Professional Scholarship for career employees of the Government of Guam who plan on enrolling in the 2023 Fanuchånan (August to December) Semester.
Enacted in 1988 as Public Law 19-45, the scholarship has supported career employees in their pursuit of a higher education degree in Public Administration or other fields under SBPA.
There will be six scholarships for undergraduate students and six graduate scholarships for this announcement cycle.
The scholarship covers tuition and fees.
The scholarship is in tribute to the late Dr. Sanchez, who was a legislator, historian, and an educator who promoted the importance and value of an educated government workforce. He also served as president of the University of Guam from 1970 to 1974.
After World War II, Sanchez graduated from St. Thomas University, Minnesota, obtained his master's degree in education from Columbia University, and received his doctorate from Stanford University, according to Guampedia.
The deadline to apply is 5 p.m., July 14, 2023.
