UOG Sea Grant launches Graduate Research Experience program with NOAA

The University of Guam Sea Grant program and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have partnered to launch a paid research experience for graduate students at UOG.

Selected students will receive research experience and training working with program mentors and UOG faculty, while receiving an annual stipend of $18,000.

The program will be open to students beginning November 8, 2022 with a deadline for submissions on December 8, 2022 CHamoru Standard Time.

Areas of study for student researchers include healthy coastal ecosystems, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, resilient communities and economies, and environmental literacy and workforce development and are in line with the UOG Sea Grant program’s focus areas.

Pacific islanders, women and other groups traditionally underrepresented in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math or STEM, are encouraged to apply.

Award notifications will be delivered by December 16, 2022 and the program will officially begin on January 16, 2023.

The University of Guam Sea Grant program was recently graduated to an Institutional status program after an in-depth status review conducted at the end of 2021.
